“Art Meets Design” with Marco Cingolani
On Wednesday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m., Giovanni Pagani welcomes a select circle of friends for the first evening of the new format
Art Meets Design, which will take place at his Gallery in the heart of Brera, Via San Marco 26. The artist who will inaugurate the series of evenings is Marco Cingolani, represented by Gaburro Gallery. Giovanni Pagani wants to create a cultured and dynamic experience that combines art and design. “The goal is to promote a creative synergy between art, in all its forms, and the world of design, offering the public a unique and stimulating cultural and artistic experience,” says the architect.
For “Gold Bloom” (2023), Cingolani draws inspiration from Ennio Morricone’s iconic song “The Ecstasy of Gold,” famous for accompanying the legendary final duel in Sergio Leone’s “The Good, the Bad, the Ugly.” The artist explores the symbolism of gold, not only as a representation of economic value, but as a window to transcendence. Through the depth of color and the ambivalent practices associated with gold – wealth and corruption, alchemy and impossibility, myth and necessity – Cingolani creates a visual dialogue that invites viewers to reflect on the complexity of the human condition.
Marco Cingolani, born in Como in 1961 and working in Milan all his life, is renowned for his mastery in manipulating color. His works are characterized by a rich range of overlays, gradients and scratches, creating a lively symphony of hues and blurs. In 2009, he was selected to represent Italy at the Venice Biennale, while in 2011 his hometown dedicated an anthological exhibition spread across three public spaces to mark his 50th birthday.
“Gold Bloom” offers the public a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Marco Cingolani’s creative universe and explore the many facets of gold as a symbol and as an artistic material.
